A 33-year-old man appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today charged with attempting to murder his partner.

Timothy Dauncey’s brief hearing was via a TV link between the court and Elmley Prison, Sheppey.

Dauncey, of Pitt Road, Maidstone, is alleged to have tried to kill Lisa White in Wychling, near Maidstone, on June 19.

Andrew Baughan, defending, said Dauncey, wearing an England football shirt, had been refused bail by magistrates but a fresh application would be made.

Judge Andrew Patience, QC, remanded Dauncey in custody until September 9, when he is expected to enter a plea to the charge.
