Man appears in court charged with assaulting emergency workers after disturbance in Knightrider Street, Maidstone

A man has appeared in court after he is alleged to assaulted two police officers and spat on them.

Patrols were sent to reports of a disturbance in Knightrider Street, Maidstone, where the suspect was said to be behaving erratically, yesterday (May 24).

He was arrested and is said to have been verbally abusive as he was taken to the police station.

Later the same day, it is alleged he assaulted two officers as they were taking him to hospital for medical attention.

Once at the hospital, it is further reported he made persistent violent threats towards the officers and medical staff, and spat on a number of them.

Thomas Nixon, of no fixed address, was later charged with three assaults on emergency workers, three public order offences and one racially aggravated public order offence, following an investigation.

The 33-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was conditionally bailed to a hearing at the same court on August 2.
