Maidstone man accused of biting and kicking police officers

A man is set to appear in court after he was accused of biting and kicking police officers and breaking into cars.

It follows an incident on Saturday, when it was reported a man was seen acting suspiciously in Chamberlain Avenue, Maidstone.

A further call was received that someone with the same description was attempting to break into cars in Roseholme.

Police attended the scene and following a search of the area located a suspect.

He is reported to have kicked an officer and bitten another as he was being arrested.

Jason Barnes, 44, of Westmoreland Road, has been charged with two counts of assaulting police, two counts of vehicle interference and one count of shoplifting.

He is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
