David Mannering is showing no signs of slowing down after clinching his 10th world powerlifting title in Latvia.

The world championships saw 51-year-old Mannering, from Maidstone, once again dominate the 75kg division to bring home gold.

Mannering, who lifted his first world title in the early 1990s aged 32, admitted it wasn’t his most prolific performance but was delighted to have secured another win.

He said: "The first win and the 10th are always the big ones and it was a special moment – a brilliant feeling.

"A few of the Russians failed on technicalities and I didn’t need to get the big points but it was great to win."

With his 10th world title in the bag, he is now aiming to make double figures in Europe.

He said: "I would love to make it 10 European titles now, that’s my aim."

The European event takes place in June, 2012.
