Manager Andy Ford has spoken of his desperation to be able to field a settled Maidstone side but has seen his plans dashed by injuries and suspensions.

Stones have fielded more than 50 players this season and Ford (pictured) admits he is ‘firefighting’ on a weekly basis to get a side out.

He said: "I am desperate to play a settled side. I know the team I’d pick if everyone was available but I’ve just not been able to do that."

Striker Gary Wharton joined the Stones after a trial at Dover, while Pierrick Briand also joined on a dual-registration from the Blue Square Bet South club.

Ashley Ulph and Peter Hawkins have been reunited with former boss Peter Nott at Whitstable, while Tony Boot has joined Ryman League Premier Division Billericay, who Stones visit on Tuesday.

Stones host Wealdstone on Saturday without Jay Saunders, who returns from suspension on Tuesday, and Laurence Harvey, whose ban ends after the trip to Billericay. Nathan Paul, Wharton and Danny Lye could miss out with hamstring injuries but Michael Phillips may return.
