Maidstone Ladies 1sts produced their best display of the season for a 5-1 win over Colchester in the East Women’s League Premier Division last Saturday.

Maidstone opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time with a penalty corner from Laura Leatherbarrow and, midway through the second period, captain Rachel Thompson converted another penalty corner.

Seven minutes later the Daniels sisters, Claire and Lizzie, combined in a slick passing move with the latter scoring.

Colchester pulled one back, but Maidstone responded with two fine goals from Kirsty Hotson – an LBZ wrong-footing the keeper and a baseline shot from the tightest of angles.

Maidstone travel to old rivals and fellow title contenders Holcombe on Saturday at 12.30pm.
