Fire between M20 junction 8 for Leeds and 9 for Ashford closes one lane

One lane of the M20 was closed briefly this afternoon after a fire broke out in a vehicle.

The fire is reported to have burnt 20 square metres of grass at the side of the carriageway between junction 8 for Leeds and 9 for Ashford.

Crews were called to tackle the flames at 2.20pm, and left the scene 25 minutes later.

Traffic was slow moving past the incident.

All lanes were reopened shortly after 3pm.
