Lunchtime deluge causes flooding

HOUSES and roads have been hit by floods after heavy rain in West Kent.

Kent Fire Service confirmed a house had been flooded in Wateringbury after heavy rain swept across the west of the county at about 1.30pm today Tuesday November 3, and that the homeowner had been advised to ask the council for sandbags.

Tonbridge and Malling council itself was forced to cancel a meeting at offices in Kings Hill tonight, after water broke through the roof of its Civic Suite.

A spokesman said concerns over driving conditions were an added reason for cancelling the meeting.

Motorists also reported flooding at the junction of Lavenders Road and Swan Street in West Malling.
