Kent man to present BBC Radio 1 show

A student from Kent will present his own show on national radio on Christmas Day.

Jude Churcher from Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells, is one of 24 BBC Radio 1 listeners who have been chosen to present a 15-minute show on the station on Christmas Day.

The 24 listeners will broadcast on the station as six hours of broadcasting are handed over to its audience from 10am to 4pm.

Student Jude, 15, said: “I’m so grateful to BBC Radio 1 for giving me the opportunity to be on air. My show is all about Pixie Lott because I’m her number 1 fan."

Jude’s show goes out on BBC Radio 1 at 12.45pm. All the winners have selected a theme for the show and each will include a track from the playlist, a festive tune and a song of their choice.

BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James, who helped pick the winners, said: “We had great fun listening to all the entries and the standard was amazing, so I know all the shows will be fantastic - full of festive fun and Christmas songs."
