Kent Life closing in November as Continuum Attractions' contract ends

A popular attraction will close its doors to the public, and members, as part of a 'transitional period'.

Kent Life, on Lock Lane, Sandling, has been operated by Continuum Attractions since 2008, but earlier this month they announced their contract will come to an end after Monday, November 30.

Today the farm has announced that while they are working with new owners, Planning Solutions Ltd, they will shut up shop to prepare.

Planning Solutions work at a number of attractions across the country, including the Somerset Rural Life Museum and Conkers activity centre in the National Forest.

Kent Life has announced it will close to the public, including members, from Monday, November 2 to remove items they had put into the park and allow the new operator to 'move in'.

The attraction will, however, honour all pre-booked school trips, weddings and birthday parties.

A spokesman for Continuum Attractions, which runs seven attractions across the UK including The Canterbury Tales and Coronation Street The Tour, said it would be inappropriate for members to be in the park during the transitional period.

She added: "In 2008 Continuum Attractions took on the Museum of Kent Life, which faced an uncertain future, and created the award-winning Kent Life Heritage Farm Park.

"During the recent tender process, Maidstone Borough Council outlined new conditions in exchange for a concession to operate which Continuum Attractions found restrictive to its proposal.

"It is therefore with regret that Continuum Attractions announces it will withdraw from operating Kent Life Heritage Farm Park from the end of November 2015.

"Continuum is committed to supporting its team at Kent Life at this time to ensure a smooth transition to their new employer.
