Human waste being left in Snodland

Lorry drivers passing through Snodland are leaving more than petrol fumes behind – human waste has had to be cleared up regularly.

There are no public toilets open overnight on the town's main route between the M20 and the M2, so drivers are resorting to squatting beside their lorries in laybys on the A228 Snodland bypass.

When the Kent Messenger visited the site, we saw two drivers urinating beside their vehicles.

A lorry driver parked in the A228 layby for the Blue Gem cafe said: "It's not like we want to go to the loo in front of people. It’s embarrassing, but we haven’t got a choice sometimes.”

Tonbridge and Malling council are called out whenever there are complaints about the layby to clean up the mess.

Full reaction on this story appears in this week's Kent Messenger
