Huge farewell party planned

A HUGE farewell party will take place to mark the closure of Senacre Technology College in Maidstone.

More than 400 people are expected at the party which is being organised by former pupils Sharon Reynolds, Janet Spicer and Carol Hunt.

Miss Reynolds, a pupil from 1977 to 1982, said: “We did a massive leaflet drop. Even an ex-pupil living in Australia is making the journey over and others who attended when it first opened in 1957 are coming too.”

The party, to be held on Friday, July 11 at 7pm, will include a disco and buffet. Memorabilia including old photographs and school journals will be on display. T-shirts are also being printed.

Head teacher Guy Hewett said: “It will be a sad day when the college closes its doors for the last time.”

Pupils at the college will move after the May Bank Holiday from the Senacre site to the Oldborough site in Boughton Lane, Maidstone, where the New Line Learning Academy is to be built.
