Lane of the A26 Tonbridge Road between A20 Rocky Hill and A26 Terrace Road closed to allow Southern Gas Networks engineers to make emergency repairs

Maidstone commuters are being warned of delays after part of a road was shut for emergency gas repairs.

A lane of the A26 Tonbridge Road between A20 Rocky Hill and A26 Terrace Road has been closed to allow engineers from Southern Gas Networks to attend to a suspected gas leak.

It is not yet known how long the carriageway will be closed.

It comes four days after the gas company completed repairs on the same road, near the Bower Street junction.

Kent County Council Highways was reporting slow moving traffic on all approaches to the town centre and throughout the one-way system this morning.
