Galahad Wisbey, from Bearsted, has been chosen as the London Windsurfing Association’s Young Windsurfer of the Year.

The 12-year-old St Augustine’s Academy, Maidstone, pupil received a trophy and a £150 cheque from the LWA chairman, Paul Robinson, at a ceremony at Bewl Valley.

The award recognised Galahad’s successful year, which included winning all but one of the LWA events in his age group.

He also won several UK competitions and finished third overall in the National Inland series.

His mum Glynnis said: "This award is a fantastic recognition of Galahad’s efforts and determination and of his achievements in his first year’s racing at regional and national level."
