Fire at house in Bow Hill, Wateringbury

A fire that took hold in a home in Wateringbury last night is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike.

Firefighters were called to Bow Hill at 8.30pm after the roof and third floor of the three-storey building caught alight.

Four fire engines attended and used compressed air foam system and hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control.

The homeowner is understood to have been away when the fire started and there were no reported injuries.
