Have a heart!
That’s the message from a distraught family who are appealing to thieves to return a camera stolen from their car.
It contained irreplaceable photos of their toddler’s life.
Their fun day out at Mote Park, Maidstone, ended in misery when they returned to their people carrier car parked at the School Lane entrance.
Charlene Miles and her husband Robert, of Coxheath village, were in a happy mood after playing with their two-year-old son Connor.
But as the three approached their silver Ford S-Max vehicle, Mr Miles noticed the rear back window had been smashed in.
Charlene’s black handbag that had been left out of sight under the front seat was stolen.
“Inside my black handbag was a purse with credit cards but no cash, and a mobile phone,” said the 26-year-old mum.
“But it also contained a video camera and the photos in it are the most important thing to us. They are irreplaceabe.
“So much of his little life was recorded on it... the day he was born in hospital, his first and second birthday party parties, his very first steps.
“These images are a part of his history they are lost to us forever unless the thieves have a change of heart.
“And so I’m appealing to whoever broke in to at least return the memory card, perhaps they could send it into the Kent Messenger anonymously.”
The incident happened at about noon on Tuesday, October 4.
The video camera is a small silver Panasonic.
Sgt Andy Miller, of Kent Police, said: “We are investigating a theft from a car in Mote Park.
“The camera contained a lot of pictures of sentimental value, something that money can’t replace. We would always recommend that motorists don’t leave any valuables in their cars, even if they are hidden out of view.”
