Harry Potter Book Night 2017: Eager wizards descend on Waterstones in Fremlin Walk, Maidstone

Eager young wizards learnt vital skills at an event last night in Maidstone.

Hogwarts professors visited Waterstones in Fremlin Walk to teach the next generation of magical folk.

The event was held to celebrate 20 years since the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first book in JK Rowling's hit series.

When they arrived, each child was sorted into their Hogwarts house, with some fierce rivalries forming just from this simple activity.

They then visited various professors for lessons including owl racing and transfiguration class.

Professor Sprout taught youngsters how to re-pot mandrakes, first reading an extract on that topic from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Once they had become a professional owl trainer, children ventured upstairs to create their own wands, which were entirely edible!

The kids had to be careful however, as escaped prisoners from Azkaban were all around looking to cause mischief.

Each young wizard left fully-certified and ready to get on the Hogwarts Express to continue their education.
