Fever Maidstone doorman sacked after 'altercation' as police probe unrelated assault

A doorman has been sacked after shocking footage appeared to show him grappling with a punter.

Two visitors have complained about security at Fever in Maidstone.

Footage from outside the Bank Street nightclub shows one punter being restrained on the night of Saturday, July 13.

It appears to show the guard, employed by Bridgegate Security, put Maidstone clubber Kieran Trapp in a headlock, while another doorman tries to intervene.

Mr Trapp said: "The other bouncer was telling him to get off me and to stop because I didn't do nothing wrong.

"There was no argument whatsoever between us and I don't know the reason for his actions."

A spokeswoman for Fever said: "Further to the altercation that took place involving a member of the public and a door team contractor, we confirm the doorman will not be working at our premises in future and the incident is being fully investigated by his employer."

Police are not investigating the incident.

Officers had been called to the club following reports of an unrelated allegation of assault in the early hours of the same day.

A visitor to the nightclub who asked to remain anonymous, said: "I was standing at the top of the stairs when I was asked to walk through to the smoking area.

"I said I was going to and he started shouting and swearing at me. I told him I used to be a doorman you don't need to talk to me like that.

"I don't know if he saw that as a challenge or something, but the next thing I knew I was being pushed down the stairs.

"He punched me four or five times in the head. It was ridiculous."

A spokesman from Kent Police said: "Officers are investigating a reported assault at a nightclub in Bank Street, Maidstone at around 2.40am on Saturday, July 13.

"There have been no arrests at this stage and inquiries are ongoing."

No further details about those allegedly involved have been released.
