A lane of the M20 link road remains closed this evening while workers carry out emergency repairs following an accident.

Part of the motorway is shut London-bound between junction 6 for Maidstone and junction 5 for Aylesford.

Delays were reportedly stretching back to junction 7 for Detling after the closure was put in force around 2pm.

A Highways England spokesman said repairs to the bridge are underway and engineers hope to reopen the route tonight.
