Lane closed on A229 Upper Stone Street, Maidstone

Motorists faced delays as works took place on a busy Maidstone road.

One lane was closed on the A229 Upper Stone Street as engineers carried out repairs following a power fault.

UK Power Networks operatives were on site, between Foster Street and George Street, carrying out the work, which started on Sunday.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys whilst works are completed.

There is currently no estimated time for completion.

A UK Power Networks statement said: "Engineers are carrying out emergency repairs to an underground electricity cable within a lane closure on Upper Stone Street, Maidstone. Work started on February 21, and is authorised to last until March 1.

"Although we will complete the works as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this essential work."
