Delays and investigation follow signal failure

Theft or vandalism could be behind signal failures on the Medway Valley line.

Trains were cancelled after an alarm alerted operators to a problem in the Yalding and Beltring area at about 2.45pm on Wednesday, June 22.

Cut cables are one possible explanation for what Network Rail called a "failure of telecommunications equipment affecting signals, cab radios and Wateringbury signal box."

Buses were running to replace cancelled services on Wednesday afternoon and an investigation is underway.
