Crash on M20 between junctions 5 and 4 and on A249 near Maidstone

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital as two crashes cause delays in the Maidstone area this morning.

The man, in his 50s, came off his bike on the A249 in Weavering, between junction 7 of the M20 for Detling and Bearsted Road, at about 8.45am.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with suspected leg and collarbone injuries, which are not reported to be life-threatening.

The road is now clear.

The second accident happened on the London-bound carriageway of the M20 between junctions 5 for Aylesford and 4 for Leybourne at about 9.20am.

The crash is reported to have involved a car and a lorry but no one required hospital treatment.

Although the vehicles involved are now on the hard shoulder, Kent County Council is warning of delays in the area.
