Fire service called to garage at River Bank Close in Maidstone last night

Two fire engines tackled a blaze in a garage.

Crews were called just before 10.45pm on Tuesday to River Bank Close in Maidstone and managed to extinguish the flames just after 11.20pm.

The fire did not spread any further than the garage and there were no casualties.

Eyewitness Laura Matisone, 33, of Square Hill Road said: "I saw a lot of smoke from my balcony and two fire engines came within about five minutes.

"As soon as they opened a garage door, you could see the blaze.

"I did not see any police or ambulances. They dealt with it quite quickly."
