A convicted killer and sex offender has been locked up indefinitely for molesting a young girl.

Bruce Hill, of no fixed address, will serve a minimum of four years, less just over eight months spent on remand before being considered for parole.

Maidstone Crown Court had heard that Hill, 51, assaulted the girl, aged 11, in December 2008. She later told her mother what had happened.

She also described a previous occasion when she had been playing in a relative's garden in Maidstone and Hill kissed her on the lips, putting his tongue in her mouth, and committing other sexual acts.

Hill admitted four charges of sexual assault.

Mr Walker said Hill was jailed in 1992 for 12 years for rape in Spain. In 2004, he was sentenced to six years for manslaughter.

Peter Forbes, defending, said the rape was of a 19-year-old girl in 1991. The manslaughter started as a wounding but the victim died.

Judge Jeremy Gold QC said the latest offences were extremely serious.

"I regret to say I have no hesitation in concluding that you are dangerous and present a serious risk to others," he told Hill.

"There will be an indeterminate sentence, imprisonment for public protection, and you will not be released until the parole board certifies you as being safe."

Had there been a determinate sentence, he said, it would have been one of eight years.
