Maidstone player-of-the-year Tom Mills has been invited to train with Championship Charlton.

The Addicks are one of several clubs to have watched the 19-year-old left-back during Stones’ pre-season campaign.

It’s early days but United boss Jay Saunders believes Mills, a product of the club’s youth system, has what it takes to make it in the pro game.

He said: "Millsy’s only young and still has a bit to learn but I think he has the quality to cut it at that level.

"Charlton want to see if he’s up to their standard and how he’ll fit into their environment.

"He’s a contracted player, so if he does well and they want him, they’ll have to make an offer."

Saunders has added to his squad with the signings of right-back Ryan Cooper and young winger Kaiyne Woolery.

Cooper played for Sittingbourne last season and is competition for Tommy Osborne.

Woolery has come through the Soccer Elite Academy in Lenham and could be pushing for a start in the first Ryman League, Division 1 South game at home to Walton & Hersham tomorrow week (August 18).

The Stones host Lewes in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday at 3pm.

The club have slashed entry prices by 50% for the second week to thank fans for their support over the summer.
