As a result, the lamppost was left hanging, leaving just enough space for a normal-height vehicle to get under for drivers coming to the roundabout from Aylesford.

The roundabout is a busy route used by those getting on or off the M20 and Blue Bell Hill.

It's thought the car was travelling from Maidstone, along Royal Engineers' Road, before crashing.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.26am to a report of a collision involving two cars on the Aylesford slip road, off the Running Horse Roundabout in Maidstone.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Highways Agency.

"Both drivers sustained injuries that were not believed to be serious. The road was reopened at around 11.54am."
