Two people have been arrested after police discovered a cannabis factory in Maidstone.

A 56-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, both from the town, were arrested following a raid at a house in Grecian Street.

Mature cannabis plants and cultivation equipment were found at the property on Monday. The haul is thought to be worth about £9,000.

The duo have been released on bail until Thursday, October 27.

DI Emma Banks from Kent Police said: “Every cannabis factory that we shut down reduces the quantity of cannabis available in Kent.

"This crop was almost ready for harvesting so the timing of the information we received was perfect.

"We rely on the support of the public in alerting us to suspicious activity and in this case have been able to promptly arrest two people and destroy their crop of plants.”
