Campaigner speaks out on hospital conditions

A WOMAN whose father died after contracting the diarrhoea bug Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff) has been interviewed by the Healthcare Commission over hospital conditions.

Jackie Nixon launched the nationwide Humane Campaign for improved care and better hospital conditions after the death of her 87-year-old father, Joseph Nixon, last month.

The Coldstream Guards Second World War veteran contracted C-Diff during a spell at Maidstone Hospital following a bowel operation. He died later at home in Holland Road, Maidstone.

Ms Nixon has since been contacted by the Healthcare Commission and is looking forward to the publication next month of its report into C-Diff infection rates at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust since 2005.
