Businesses in Kent are being urged to up security if they are closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Police are advising shop and pub owners to take extra measures such as displaying clear signage so people can report concerns and making sure valuables are out of view, so they don't become easy targets.
A warning notice has been put up in the window of Monsoon in Maidstone
This comes as Monsoon Accessorize in Maidstone has been stripped bare, its empty shelves clearly visible through the windows.
A sign on the door reads: "All cash, sundries, food and alcohol have been removed. CCTV is in operation. Patrols are in place."
This same poster has been put up in several other outlets, including McDonald's in Week Street.

If neighbouring businesses remain open, share contact details with them in case they see anything suspicious.
Keep minimal lighting on during the night - timer switches can be useful.
Ensure the CCTV system is monitored and is in good working order.
Set up a WhatsApp group to let all staff know their obligations, who they should contact if they notice anything suspicious and what the chain of reporting is. Only certain staff should be able to access the premises in an emergency and have a clear checklist for anyone who needs to go into the store.
Make sure alarms are fully operational - managers should consider a mobile phone app which allows connectivity with a voice capacity so that they can talk direct to any intruder. Fogging devices can also be helpful.

Check walls and fences and ensure any damage is repaired and no fixings are missing or worn. Check there are no hidden areas which could be used to gain access, hide tools in or stolen items for later collection.
