Big Brother presenter Davina McCall brought a celebrity touch to a village pantomime when she made a guest appearance.

Kris Robertson, director of the Hawkhurst Amateur Theatrical Society’s production of Alice in Wonderland, contacted Davina, who lives a few miles away in Wadhurst, to ask her if she would play the part of the Sat Nav in the show.

Kris said: “I tweeted Davina to invite her to record the voice of the Sat Nav and was delighted when she agreed. It just put an extra bit of sparkle into an already fantastic show.”

HATS’ Alice in Wonderland, whose cast included the Hawkhurst Brownies, was staged at the Marlborough House School theatre on Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12, with a sell-out matinee on Sunday.

Kris added: “We had all the elements you’d expect in a family-friendly pantomime, including a man in a frock, plenty of chances for the audience to shout out, and some slapstick fun.

"We made sure there were a few gags in there for the mums and dads too and it was a great success.”

  • HATS was founded 18 months ago and welcomes new members. The next show will be in June, auditions will be held in the new year. Visit www.hawkhurstamdram.co.uk or call the HATS hotline on 07807 544 872 for more details.
