Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a cash machine in Maidstone.

A 32-year-old and a 49-year-old were arrested on suspicion of theft and have been bailed until February 17.

The cashpoint was stolen from the wall of Lloyds TSB bank, Cripple Street, Loose, at 3.38am on Saturday, November 13.

An excavator, taken from a nearby building site, was seen being driven into the wall of the bank, causing serious structural damage.

The cash machine was quickly loaded onto a blue pick-up truck style vehicle that made off along Cripple Street towards Farleigh Hill.

The excavator was left at the scene.

The blue pick-up used in the raid had been stolen from a property in Woodchuch, Ashford.

It was found by police hours after the raid in Longend Road, Claygate near Marden.

No one was hurt in the incident and no weapons were used. Police are still calling for information about the incident and people
