Appeals after fatal road crashes

KENT Police have appealed for information following two fatal crashes in the county.

A motorcyclist was killed when he was in collision with a car on the A26 Tonbridge Road between Maidstone and Teston on Thursday.

The victim has not yet been formally identified but police said he lived in the Maidstone area. He was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries at Maidstone Hospital. Anyone with information is is asked to telephone 01622 600970.

In the other fatal crash on Wednesday afternoon, a man died when his car careered into a ditch between the Lydden junction and the Whitfield roundabout on the London-bound carriageway of the A2. It is understood the driver suffered a heart attack.

The road was closed for several hours as police forensic teams carried out investigations.

A police spokesman said no other vehicles were involved in the accident and that the driver came from Salisbury in Wiltshire.
