Youth target of coaching moves

KENT have made major changes to their coaching structure as they look to bring their young cricketers on.

Chris Stone, 2nd XI coach, will be taking up the newly created post of youth director with responsibility for the development of all Kent Youth squads.

He will also be charged with spotting new talent throughout the county.

Simon Willis, head of cricket operations, will take over the role of 2nd XI coach, a role which will carry with it the responsibility of bringing the new Kent Cricket Academy into operation in April 2003.

Ian Brayshaw, Kent's director of cricket, said: “I am delighted to be able to announce these two appointments.

“Both Chris and Simon are totally committed to Kent cricket and the creation of their new roles highlights the club’s determination to continue to develop cricketers of the highest calibre from the clubs and schools within Kent.”

The changes take effect from this Sunday.
