Youngsters bolster Smith's squad

WELLING player-manager Neil Smith has signed two more players and agreed terms with another two.

The Wings completed the signings of utility man Adam Cottrell and defender Steve May, both aged 20, following last Saturday’s 1-0 friendly win at Folkestone.

With Smith continuing to shape his squad, striker Lloyd Blackman and wideman Michael Johnson are also set to put pen to paper. Another Wings target, Mucu, is attracting interest from League 2 barnet. A deal was offered to Mucu before the Charlton friendly last week but the 20-year-old, who has never played at this level before, has enlisted the help of an agent.

Smith is also looking at Millwall youngster Ross Gaynor, who spent part of last season on loan at Sutton.

Former Crystal Palace and Tonbridge striker Andy Martin played against Charlton and Folkestone for Welling but has since opted to join Maidstone after Smith wanted more time to weigh up any possible deal.
