Youngster makes full international bow

DEBUT: Andrew Crofts came on as a substitute for Wales

GILLINGHAM midfielder Andrew Crofts made his competitive senior debut for Wales on Wednesday night during the 2-0 World Cup Group 6 win over Azerbaijan.

The 21-year-old was a 69th-minute substitute at the Millennium Stadium after replacing Carl Fletcher in midfield.

Wales' win meant they moved off the bottom of their qualifying group, but they were still a long way short of booking a place in the tournament in Germany next summer.
