Gillingham's Shaunagh Brown failed to make it through to the final of the women's discus at the World Junior Championships in Poland.

The Blackheath & Bromley Harriers athlete's best throw of 45.62m came on her last attempt but it was not enough to land her passage through to the next round.

On day four of the event, Blackheath & Bromley's Alex Al-Ameen ran strongly in a high quality line-up in the men's 110m hurdles. His effort of 14.00sec saw him grab third place and a spot in the semi-final as a fastest loser.

He said: "I got out alright but the French guy just crept up on me. I felt good in warm up, that was my first race in two weeks so my legs haven’t been turning over."

In the men’s pole vault, Scott Huggins (Blackheath & Bromley) bowed out of the competition at 4.90m having failed to reach 5.00m three times. It will be a disappointment to Huggins who cleared 5.10m earlier this season at the Loughborough International.
