WELLING boss Adrian Pennock has backed striker Steve Harper.

The forward, signed earlier this season from Thurrock for an undisclosed fee, scored only his third goal in 15 games for the Wings in the 1-1 draw at Bognor.

Harper has been played in a withdrawn role in many games since joining Welling and Pennock admitted that much of his hard work does go unnoticed.

Pennock said: "He doesn’t get the credit he deserves. You can’t just look at his goals record, you need to take into account everything else that he brings to the team."
