WELLING breathed fresh life into their Nationwide Conference South campaign with victory at second-placed Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.

After a bright start the Wings fell behind on 10 minutes when Alex Martin saw his long-range shot deceive keeper Jamie Turner and find the bottom corner.

Welling were back on level terms three minutes later when Che Stadhart's right-wing cross was fumbled by keeper Chris Wright and Martin Carthy slid home the equaliser.

The Wings strong penalty claims turned down before defender Ben Lewis put them in front 10 minutes before half-time, volleying home after Steve Perkins' header had been blocked.

Welling soaked up the pressure after the break but the home side failed to force Turner into action.

Carthy had a goal disallowed on 56 minutes for a foul by Lewis.

The Wings made the points safe with 12 minutes left when Jamie Day's left-wing corner wasn't cleared and right-back Mark Goodfellow volleyed in from the edge of the area.
