Wings defender looks for immediate response

Welling v Bognor

Welling defender Jack Parkinson is aiming to get their play-off hopes back on track at home to Bognor on Saturday.

The Wings lost ground after losing at Maidenhead last weekend but Parkinson believes they can bounce back against struggling Bognor.

"We did well beating Hampton and AFC Wimbledon, and reaching the Kent Cup final, so it was a big disappointment," he noted.

"But we need to put that behind us straight away and crack on with what is in front of us.

"Maidenhead played the conditions better than we did. The pitch didn't help, but we can't blame that as there are two teams out there.

"It was just one of them days when we didn't do the right things and we suffered. We thought if we kicked up the slope in the first half that we'd do better in the second half. We wanted to keep it nice and tight and then nick something but it wasn't to be.

"We were full of confidence going into the game and hopefully that won't knock us too much as we've still got some big matches ahead of us. It's never too late, is it?

"We are a young team and we like to think we can put that result behind us. We've got a good playing surface, we like to get the ball down and play so hopefully we can turn it around straight away."
