WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has been named the Conference South's manager of the month for September.

Pennock guided the Wings to a 100 per cent record during the month, which has seen them rise to the top four in the league and progress in the FA Cup and London Senior Cup.

The former Gillingham defender said: "I'm really chuffed to win the award but it's not just about me. I have to praise Phil Handford my assistant, Neil Witherington, Vince Bartram and Peter Green in the backroom staff as well.

"I'm pleased for the club, it's been a good month for us and we want to carry that on."

The Wings ensured the dreaded jinx did not strike on Saturday as they drew 0-0 at Bognor despite having defender Chris Moore suspended.

Welling travel to Ryman League Premier Division Harrow Borough in the FA Cup third qualifying round this Saturday (1pm).
