Welling United v Hayes

ADRIAN Pennock has conceded it will be an emotional afternoon when he takes charge of the Wings at Park View Road for the final time on Saturday.

Welling host Hayes in Conference South with the play-offs almost certainly out of their reach but Pennock is keen to finish on a high note.

He said: "It will be an emotional day and I really hoped that we would still be in the play-offs. That looks unlikely but we have to make sure we win and see if a miracle can happen.

"I don't want to leave on a low note, I want to sign off with a win."

Pennock also paid tribute to the Welling supporters, including their vocal backing at Bedford last week.

"The fans didn't know who I was when I went to Welling, and that will be the same at Stoke I guess," said Pennock.

"But the Welling supporters have been fantastic to me, we've always had a crack and I'll miss not having a drink with them after the game."

Pennock added: "They were amazing at Bedford last week, from the warm-up to the final whistle."

Pennock has no new injury concerns ahead of the Hayes clash.

Supporters at the game will also see the preparation work for the club's new floodlights which will be positioned in the four corners of the ground.
