Wings boosted by skipper's return

Welling United v Basingstoke

CAPTAIN Jamie Day returns for Welling tonight as the Wings look to move second in Conference South.

Day has missed the last two games through suspension but victory over Basingstoke will move Welling a step closer to the play-offs.

The game, which takes place at Dartford's Princes Park, is Welling's final home league game away from Park View Road.

Manager Adrian Pennock said: "We need the fans to come out one more time and support us.

"Their vocal support at Histon on Saturday really lifted the players and I want them to do that again, they do make a big difference."

Pennock added: "There's no point looking at the next three games, it's all about Basingstoke at the moment.

"We need to win the game but they are on a good run and it won't be easy - we need to prepare right and be on our game."

Welling will be without defender Joe Bruce, who cannot play against his former club under the terms of his transfer from Basingstoke on deadline day last month.
