JONES: "The crowd were right behind us and the noise was amazing"

KENT wicketkeeper Geraint Jones believes Twenty20 internationals are here to stay following England’s 100-run win over Australia on Monday.

Jones hit four boundaries in his 14-ball innings as England’s pinch hitter and took a good catch stood up to Jonathan Lewis’s seamers as Australia’s top-order collapsed.

Jones said: "Lewis is a yard quicker than Simon Cook but I stood up to stop their batsmen getting down the pitch.

"It helped get us off to a great start in the field and after that the crowd were right behind us and the noise was amazing.

"Generally the game was played in good spirit and even Brett Lee had a laugh with me when I almost knocked his block off with a drive.

"It’s hard to read too much into the result, but we know they will be shocked to have lost by such a margin and will come out fighting from here on."
