CANTERBURY endured a weekend of delight and disappointment celebrating their first win of the season in the Slazenger Men's National League Premier Division, 2-0 against fellow strugglers Bowden at Polo Farm on Saturday, only to bow out of the EHA Cup 24 hours later, losing 4-0 against Division 1 leaders Old Georgians at Weybridge.

New skipper Matt Harper scored one and made the other for Andrew Dunn as Canterbury scored twice inside the last 11 minutes to leave the Manchester club bottom, on goal difference.

Harper and New Zealand coach Darrel Cassidy savoured their first win in charge as Canterbury enjoyed plenty of possession in a tight, tense contest.

Cassidy said: "There was a real sense of relief at the end, and it feels a big psychological hurdle has been scaled."

Holcombe reached the last eight of the EH cup after beating Sheffield Halam Civica 6-3 on Sunday.

Goals from Danny Laslett and Denzil Dolly gave Holcs a 2-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half, Dolly went on to complete his hat-trick, before goals from Liam Foster and Eric Rose-Innes wrapped up the victory.

On Saturday, Holcombe suffered their first defeat of the season in the National League South Division after going down 3-1 against Sevenoaks.

Pete Turner hit a hat-trick for Sevenoaks with David Mathews grabbing Holcs' consolation goal.

Bromley & Beckenham lost 6-3 at home to University of Exeter in the National South Division.

Craig Peters put BromBeck in front and although Rufus McNaught-Barrington got the university side level, Dan Holmes gave the home side the lead again.

McNaught-Barrington struck twice to complete his hat-trick with Ben Edge and Brendon Noble making it five. Graham Butler pulled one back for BromBeck, before Ed Kelleher got the visitors' sixth.
