Weather wipes out football matches

A number of Saturday's games were postponed due to frozen pitches after overnight temperatures fell below freezing.

Ebbsfleet's Blue Square Premier match at home to Wrexham was postponed on Saturday after a late morning inspection with the pitch still frozen in some areas.

Welling's Blue Square South trip to Basingstoke has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The decision was reached at a 10.45am pitch inspection, timed to avoid the Wings an unnecessary journey.

In the Ryman League Premier Division, Dartford's home match with Harlow was called off after an 11.30am inspection.

The Ryman League Division 1 South clash between Whitstable and Ashford has also fallen victim to the weather.

In the Bulmers Cider Kent League, the Premier Division game between Hythe and VCD was postponed while the Division 1 games at Chatham, Dover and Sevenoaks were all called off. The Kent Intermediate Cup tie between Ashford and Tonbridge was postponed.
