Vote for your star Gillingham player now

Gillingham ended the month on a high at Chester and now is the time to pick your star player for January.

The Gills started the month with a memorable game against Premier League side Aston Villa and followed up a great performance in that game with three straight league wins.

Victories over Morecambe, Port Vale and Exeter preceded an injury time defeat to Lincoln which left home fans voicing their displeasure.

The month ended with a visit to Chester’s Deva Stadium and yet another win.

We’ve made a selection of the best performers from January and now your vote will decide who gets the player of the month accolade.

Mark Bentley

The experienced midfielder stepped back into the back four following the suspension to Garry Richards and the end of Leigh Mills’ loan move and he has hardly put a foot wrong. Reliable and strong in the air – he looks comfortable in the central position.

Simeon Jackson

His month got off to a bang with a stunning goal on national television against Aston Villa and he got a couple more in the league with well taken penalties. A constant menace to defenders and he’s creating plenty of attention from visiting scouts.

Stuart Lewis

The young midfielder, who has branded himself the Ginger Cafu, took over the vacant right-back slot and will now take some shifting after some solid displays including keeping Villa’s Ashley Young quiet in the big FA Cup game.

Adam Miller

The midfielder has taken the captain’s arm band since Barry Fuller contracted pneumonia and he’s done the position justice with some committed performances and a few goals too. He hit the winner in the 1-0 victory over Exeter.

Dennis Oli

Back from injury and playing better than ever. His versatility has been a big plus for Gillingham and he’s been in great form as partner for Simeon Jackson in his preferred forward position.

Simon Royce

He hasn’t featured much this season but when he’s been called upon the veteran keeper has been as reliable as ever. Some great saves in the month have helped the Gills to a number of wins.
