The Kent County Football Association paid tribute to the unsung heroes who serve the game at grass roots level with Tuesday’s annual presentations of the workforce awards at Rochester’s Roffen Club.

KCFA chairman and chief executive Barry Bright said: “Evenings like this make everything worthwhile because we see the whole spectrum of football in the county.

“We see people prepared to give that little bit extra for the good of the game.”

Presentations were made by Kent’s Barclays Premier League referee Steve Bennett.

Roll of honour: County FA Workforce awards: Derek Hodge (Sevenoaks), Stuart McCluskey (Deal), Carl Heather (Borough Green), Angela Wood (Orpington), Ken Keating (Medway).

County FA Football Workforce Young Person award: Grant Harrison (Faversham). County FA Fair Play Female Club award: Deal Town Rangers, Under-12 colts girls. County FA Fair Play Male Club award: Real Man of Kent of the Gravesend League.

County FA Charter Standard Adult Club award: Maidstone United. County FA Charter Standard Club award: Swanscombe FC. County FA Charter Standard Club administrator award: Barrie Ivens (Castle Colts, Ditton). County FA Charter Standard Club coach award: Phillip Arnold (Royal Prince’s Park, Sittingbourne).

County FA Charter Standard Community Club award: Orpington FC. County FA Charter Standard Development Club award: Meridian Girls FC. County FA Charter Standard Primary Development School award: Northdown Primary, Westgate-on-Sea). County FA Charter Standard Secondary School Award: Coopers Technology. County FA Charter Standard Specialist Sports College award: Canterbury High School.

Outstanding Contribution to Grassroots Football award: Bruce Smith (Whitstable Town). Outstanding Contribution to Refereeing award: Ernest McGarvey (Broadstairs). Outstanding Contribution to Women’s and Girls Football award: Greg Petts (Kemsley).

Regional South East Administrator of the Year: Barry Ivens (Castle Colts, Ditton). A presentation was made to the Under-17 MLD Disability team who won the South East Regional League Cup.
