Fans of Margate Football Club fear for the future of the Hartsdown Park side after an announcement that it faces another winding up petition served by HM Revenue and Customs.

A statement on the official club website says: "This second petition relates to the same monies owing from the previous CVA. The club is investigating a number of possible avenues and will report more as soon as decisions are made."

Supporters of the Ryman League premier side are trying to come to terms with the meaning behind the statement and comments are flying thick and fast on the Fans Focus unofficial forum on the internet.

Alexmfc from Wood Green says: "I’m not sure if there is a way out this time if I am honest. We’ve been very lucky to still be going but being that it seems the club is in a very precarious situation, I don’t think this is going to help matters. Be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of days."

Eyeball DeVillian from Margate speaks for many of the fans when he writes: "Gutted, absolutely gutted. I find myself really angry about this. Answers needed."

He also suggests: "It seems the only answer will be for a new Margate United," while DHF calls for "a supporters buy out".

Margate have made a poor start to the season and are currenty 20th in the league - in the relegation zone, two off the bottom - and were dumped out of the FA Cup in a first qualifying round match against lower ranked opponents, Worthing.
