Turner winging his way back to Welling

TURNER: returning to familiar territory

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Jamie Turner from Tonbridge on a one-year contract.

Turner, who was a former Welling youth team keeper, has also played for Kent sides Deal and Gravesend & Northfleet.

He is a straight replacement for Charlie Mitten, who left the club earlier this week.

"Jamie is big and strong and a good shot-stopper," said Pennock. "I rate him highly from when I was with him at Gravesend and I've kept an eye on him since.

"He is still only 24, is a great character and wants to do well for the club."

Turner, who suffered relegation with Tonbridge from the Ryman League Premier Division last season, is Pennock's third close season signing after Lee Gledhill and James Pinnock joined the Park View Road club but the Wings boss has warned that players will have to leave before more new faces arrive.
