Tuesday's local football action

ON A night when Gillingham won in the Carling Cup, the county's other major teams also had a good evening, with five of the seven teams in action picking up victories.

In the Ryman League Premier Division, Margate failed to build on their winning return to Hartsdown Park at the weekend with a 2-1 defeat at Staines, but Bromley managed a 1-0 win at Walton & Horsham.

In the Ryman League Division 1, Dover Athletic, Cray Wanderers and Ramsgate all made it two wins out of two.

Ramsgate beat Tooting & Mitcham United 3-2 at Southwood, while Dover won by the same scoreline away at Horsham. Cray enjoyed a 2-1 home victory against Metropolitan Police.

Tonbridge Angels built on their point on the opening day with a 2-0 win at Banstead Athletic.

Ashford Town, who went down 2-1 at Metropolitan Police at the weekend, were beaten 2-1 by Whyteleafe at Homelands.
